Kentucky Apple Festival Parade
Dear Kentucky Apple Festival Participants,
We cordially invite your organization to participate in the 58th Kentucky Apple Festival Parade on Saturday, October 5th, 2024. This year’s theme, “Seed to Celebration: 60 Years of the Kentucky Apple Festival,” encourages creativity and celebration of our rich heritage.
Prizes: A total of $1,450 in prize money will be awarded across three categories: Originality, Most Work Involved, and Neatness. Winners will receive:
- 1st Place: The Golden Delicious Award – $700.00
- 2nd Place: The McIntosh Award – $500.00
- 3rd Place: The Rome Beauty Award – $250.00
Registration and Judging: Floats for competition must be lined up on Jefferson Avenue by 10:30 AM for judging between 11:00 AM and 12:00 Noon. Judging will be conducted by three out-of-town judges, and prizes will be awarded immediately after judging concludes. Registration deadline is 5:00 PM on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024. Participation Guidelines: The Kentucky Apple Festival Parade welcomes civic organizations, school groups, and church groups to join in the celebration. There are no entry fees, fostering a community spirit of participation and fun.

Kentucky Apple Festival Parade Guidelines
Theme: Seed to Celebration: 60 Years of the Kentucky Apple Festival
Enter a Float in the Parade for Your School, Civic Organization, or Business. Registration Deadline: 5:00 PM on Oct. 2nd, 2024.
(Floats must follow the Festival Theme to qualify for Awards) Theme – Seed to Celebration: 60 Years of the Kentucky Apple Festival.
Floats
- All floats must register with the Parade Chairperson by the Wednesday before the Parade; no other entries will be permitted.
- Schools, churches, civic organizations, or area businesses may enter floats.
- Non-competing floats should line up on Jefferson Avenue by 1:00 PM.
- Floats competing for prizes must align with the current year’s Apple Festival Theme and be in place on Jefferson Avenue by 10:30 AM.
- Judging by three out-of-town judges will occur between 11:00 AM and 12:00 Noon, with winners announced immediately afterward.
- Floats must have a fire extinguisher onboard.
- Drivers must possess a valid driver’s license and provide proof of liability insurance.
- Children on floats must be supervised by at least one adult.
- Those standing on moving floats must have secure support.
- Sitting on float edges with legs over the sides is prohibited.
- Smoking or use of tobacco products on floats is prohibited.
- Candy may not be thrown from floats; it must be distributed safely by walking beside or behind the float.
Cars/People in the Parade
- All cars must be registered with the Parade Chairperson or part of an Apple Festival sanctioned car show, with drivers holding a valid license and insurance.
- Signs or vehicles must be approved during lineup.
- Cars will assemble on Washington Avenue by 1:00 PM.
- Car show vehicles and Crank It Up winners must display identification.
- Dirt bikes, 4-wheelers, go-carts, or side-by-sides are not permitted, except for emergency personnel, county/city officials, or approved non-profit organizations.
Political Office Holders and Candidates
- Political office holders may ride under their current title.
- Each party (Republican/Democratic) may sponsor a float for candidates not holding current office; these floats are not eligible for judging.
- Candidates may ride with a group but may not display campaign materials.
Beauty Pageant Winners
- Only current pageant winners may ride under their title.
- Children must be secured in vehicles and not sitting on top of any part of an automobile.
Note: If a child that was the winner of another pageant enters an Apple Festival pageant and does not win, that child may ride in the parade under their previous title.
Motorcycles
- Motorcycles must be registered in the Apple Festival sanctioned Motorcycle Show, displaying stickers on headlight lenses.
Horses
Horses are not permitted in the parade for safety reasons.
